James Patrick McGlone, affectionately known as “Oggie” and “Jimmy,” age 83, of Conshohocken, PA, passed away on October 20, 2024. Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late Joseph and Margaret McGlone (nee McCullagh).
Education was a cornerstone of James’ early life, as he graduated from West Catholic Boys High School in 1959. This solid foundation ignited a lifelong pursuit of knowledge and personal growth, shaping him into the extraordinary individual he would become.
A man of remarkable talents and steadfast dedication, James forged a commendable career as a pipefitter for Amtrak. His skillful hands helped lay the groundwork for many journeys that would take others across the nation, always guided by an unwavering commitment to excellence. Beyond his profession, he served his country with honor as a veteran of the United States Army—a testament to his character and devotion to service.
James was not merely defined by his professional accomplishments or his military service; he was a devout Catholic and held his faith and family in the highest regard. He was also a passionate supporter of the Philadelphia Eagles. As a season ticket holder, he devoted countless weekends to cheering for his beloved team, his fervent spirit echoing through the stands with every exhilarating play.
James was the beloved husband of 56 years to Margaret “Peggy” McGlone (nee McFadden); caring father of Maureen Griffith (Terry), Cathy Wozniak (Ted), and Eileen McGlone; adoring grandfather of Shae and Brynn Wozniak. Predeceased by his siblings, Joseph McGlone and Ann O’Neill.
Relatives and friends are invited to James’ Viewing 9:00-10:15 AM on Saturday, October 26, 2024 at St. Matthew Roman Catholic Church, 219 Fayette St., Conshohocken, PA 19428, followed by his Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM. Interment Calvary Cemetery.
