It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of James (Jimmy) McCorriston, who left us peacefully, surrounded by family, on July 27, 2025, at the age of 74.
Jimmy was born and raised in Southwest Philadelphia to Hugh William and Betty (Connell) McCorriston. Jimmy eventually settled in Lansdowne, a place that quickly became home. Over the years he stayed, built a life and raised his beloved family and then relocated to North Wildwood in his retirement.
Jimmy’s life was rooted in love. He was a devoted son, father, treasured brother, and loyal friend. He was a constant source of strength, guidance, and unconditional support. Jimmy had a kind heart and was someone you could always count on for a helping hand or a hearty laugh.
Jimmy was immensely proud of his work in the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local Union 98. He was known for his dedicated contributions to the construction of Citizen’s Bank Park, home of the Philadelphia Phillies, where he worked as an electrician for ten years.
In his retirement, he could be found surrounded by family and friends, walking the sea wall, or cheering on the Notre Dame “Fighting Irish”.
He is survived by his children, Brad McCorriston (Amber) and Natalie Stearns (Jason); his grandchildren, Amelia and Quinton; sisters, Edna Coulter (Bob) and Kathleen Daly (Dick); and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Friends and family are invited to honor his memory and celebrate his life during his Visitation on Thursday, August 7, 2025 from 8:30 am to 11:00 am at the Donohue Funeral Home, 3300 West Chester Pike, Newtown Square, PA 19073, followed by a Funeral Mass beginning at 11:30 am at St. Anastasia Church, 3301 West Chester Pike, Newtown Square, PA 19073. Internment thereafter at SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Springfield, PA.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The SSJ Welcome Center, 728 East Allegheny Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19134, ssjwelcomecenter.org/ or New Sanctuary Movement of Philadelphia, 2601 Potter Street, Philadelphia, PA 19125, www.sanctuaryphiladelphia.org/.
As a tribute to Jimmy, his family invites all who wish to wear a shirt honoring him. He loved West Catholic, Notre Dame, and Local 98.
Though the world has lost a remarkable man, his spirit will undoubtedly live on in the lives he touched, the friendships he cultivated, and the countless memories he created.
