James Hogan

October 10, 1936 — June 19, 2025

James “Jim” Hogan, age 88, of Paoli, PA, passed away peacefully on June 19, 2025, surrounded by his family. Born in Bryn Mawr, PA, he was the son of the late Frank and Mary Hogan (née Lyden).

Jim exemplified unwavering dedication and a deep-rooted sense of community throughout his life. As the Assistant Postmaster of the Paoli Post Office, he knew everyone in the area and was known for his strong work ethic and integrity. Beyond his professional role, Jim’s commitment to service radiated through every facet of his life.

A proud and lifelong member of the Paoli Fire Company, Jim dedicated countless hours to the safety and well-being of his neighbors. He was also among the founding members of St. Norbert Catholic Church, where he actively served as an usher and warmly welcomed parishioners and strengthened the bonds of fellowship and faith among parishioners. His involvement with the Knights of Columbus and many years serving on the Pocono Heights Board of Directors further reflected his devotion to charity and unity which aligned with the values he lived by every day.

Jim’s greatest pride, however, was his family. He shared over sixty loving years of marriage with his beloved wife, Elizabeth “Betty” Hogan (née O’Brien), a partnership rooted in mutual respect, deep affection, and a lifetime of shared memories. He delighted in time spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, taking joy in their milestones and the laughter they brought into his life.

A man of many interests, Jim found fulfillment in the simple pleasures: the art of woodworking, traveling (renewing his passport 3 years ago), visiting friends and family, gardening, and recently cultivating new friendships at Daylesford Crossing. He found peace and joy in nature, especially during summers at the Pocono's and trips to the shores; where every moment became a cherished memory.

Jim's life was a testament to the values of service, faith, and community. His legacy will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Jim was the devoted father of Beth Quigley (Peter), Sharon Hogan, Jim Hogan (Claire), Laurie Hennessy (Paul), and the late Colleen Hogan and Janet Hogan. He was the adoring grandfather of Colleen Quigley-Savo (Joe), Megan Quigley, Jimmy Hogan, Matt Hogan, and the late Kristin Quigley; and loving great-grandfather to Rae Eileen Savo and Ava Rose Savo. Jim was the dear brother of Bob Hogan (Mary) and was predeceased by Frank Hogan (Kate), Mary Margaret “Margie” Gallagher (Jim) and his godmother, Rose Lyden.

Family and friends are invited to Jim’s viewing on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, from 9:30 to 10:30 AM at St. Norbert Church, 50 Leopard Rd, Paoli, PA 19301. A Funeral Mass will follow at 10:30 AM. Interment will take place at St. Augustine Cemetery, King of Prussia, PA.
