James L. Doyle, Jr. “Lee”, 77, of Chadds Ford, PA, and Stuart, FL, passed away suddenly on August 27, 2026.
Born December 11, 1948 in West Chester, PA, he was the son of the late James L. and Marie (nee Smiley) Doyle.
From humble beginnings as dishwasher and potato peeler, Lee progressed to manager, owner and operator of many successful restaurants, including the Greenery and Crossroads in Wilmington, DE.
Lee served on the Board of Directors for Towne Park Condo Association and was also a member of Golfshots Classic Tour.
Lee was an avid golfer, enjoyed board games and was a passionate sports fan who loved the Eagles and never missed the Little League World Series. Whether Lewes, Nags Head, or most recently Stuart, he preferred life on the beach with his wife and a cocktail in his hand. He made lasting friendships in all walks of his life and was fortunate to share a close bond with his many cousins. Lee had a profound impact on those he met and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Lee was the beloved husband of Susan L. (nee McCormick) Doyle; loving father of Kim Schneider (Eric), Keith Doyle, and Teresa Slackway (Eric Wood); adoring grandfather of Spiro Vasilatos, Erich, Kyle and Brian Schneider, Danielle McVicker, Samantha, James, and Huntyre Doyle; and proud great-grandfather of Iris, Reya, and Lena McVicker.
