Iris Chenoweth

Iris Williams Chenoweth, 88, died on 15 May 2021 in Audubon, PA from complications of a cerebral stroke. Born 24 February 1933 in Chicago, IL ,Iris was the second of six children born to Frank Hoopes Williams and Ruby May (Thompson) Williams.

Iris lived in the small farming town of Ambia, Indiana where she attended grade school through high school. She attended Purdue University and graduated in 1956 with a bachelors degree in Home Economics. In 1963 she received her masters degree in Education from Boston University.

Iris married 2d Lt Robert Chenoweth on 10 March 1956 and joined him in France later that year. Iris taught school in Georgia, Virginia, Florida, California and New York as she moved with him 14 times on various Army assignments. Iris was a gourmet cook and enjoyed entertaining friends and relatives. She loved traveling, lived in Thailand two years and visited over 40 countries. She enjoyed croquet and was a champion at the Hillsboro Club in Florida where she wintered twenty years.

Iris is survived by her husband of 65 years, LTC (Ret) Robert Chenoweth, her sisters Faye Williams, Ann (Larry) Junker, Susan Hess, and her brothers Tom (Jennette) Williams and Michael (Leslie) Williams, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Iris' ashes will be interred at Gundy Cemetery, Vemilion County, Illinois at 3:00 PM on 4 July 2021.
