Helen A. Meehan

February 11, 1959 — June 12, 2025

Helen A. Meehan (nee Savini), age 66, of Chester Springs, PA, died peacefully at home on June 12, 2025, after a courageous, six-year battle with posterior cortical atrophy, a rare form of dementia.

Born in Philadelphia on February 11, 1959, she was the daughter of the late John and Helen Savini. She grew up in Havertown, PA with her nine brothers and sisters (John, Paul, Miriam, Kathy, Regina, Mark, Peter, Carol, and Bernadette), all of whom survive her. They had a “play until the streetlights come on” type of childhood. They drank from garden hoses, walked both ways to school at St. Denis, and spent every day of their summers at Karakung Swim Club.

After graduating Archbishop Carroll High School in 1977, Helen pursued an associate’s degree as a radiologic technologist. She spent over 35 years in the profession, most of them in the X-Ray and CAT Scan departments at Chester County Hospital. Her colleagues respected her skill, while her patients cherished her compassion. She had a calming demeanor and kind heart that allowed countless patients to feel at ease during uncertain times.

Helen was the proud and devoted mother of three children—Michael Meehan (Samantha), Caitlin Meehan and Erin Englehart (Andrew). She and her former husband, Michael, raised their family on Halvorsen Drive in West Chester, alongside neighbors who turned into lifelong friends. Her kids were the center of her world, and she was the steady rhythm of their childhood. She packed every lunch, coordinated every birthday party, attended every sporting event, and showed up in the ways that mattered most—with quiet sacrifices, steady encouragement, and a presence that never wavered. Her gentle strength was the foundation upon which they built their lives.

She was also an adoring grandmother and “Neema” to her six grandchildren: Michael Meehan, Jr. (11), Jack Meehan (9), Hailey Englehart (3), James Englehart (2), Brody Meehan (1) and Maeve Englehart (2 months). She cherished time with her older grandchildren—reading them stories, playing outside, and taking them sledding. And with the younger ones, even as her illness progressed, there were still dance parties, singalongs, popsicles, and quiet moments full of love that didn’t need words.

A visitation will be held on Monday, June 23rd, from 9:15 am – 11:15 am at St. Denis Church, 2401 St. Denis Lane, Havertown, PA 19083, followed by her Funeral Mass at 11:30 am. All are welcome to attend a luncheon following the service.

In lieu of flowers or donations, we ask you to honor Helen’s memory by hugging your own mother, telling your children you love them, and bringing a little levity to someone’s day. And the next time you are out to breakfast, think of Helen and order the WAFFLES!
