Harry L. “Ace” Bell, Jr., age 95, of Newtown Square, PA, passed on April 6, 2022.
Beloved husband of the late Deborah (née Pierce) Bell; loving father of Deborah Bell Misher (Bob), Judith Bell Huot (Rick), and Michael Bell (Melissa); grandfather of Brian (Laura), Kimberly, Christopher, Sophia, and Michael, and great-grandfather of Mikayla, Madison, and Carter. Also survived by his previous spouse, Marcella Bell.
Ace had a life long passion for sports. He played baseball for the Trenton Giants with Willie Mays leaving to accept a teaching position at Springfield High School (Delco). He coached baseball, basketball and football. He was proud of all of his teams and delighted when Mike Scoscia, Geoff Petrie and Bobby Gibson went on to the pros. He had career combined wins of 445 in baseball and basketball. Ace was inducted into the Springfield Hall of Fame, West Chester University Hall of Fame, Delaware County Hall of Fame, PA Baseball Hall of Fame and Haverford High School Hall of Fame. The baseball field at Springfield was named after him!
Ace continued to follow his sports passion long after retirement attending local games. He was an avid golfer at Penn Oaks. He was also a long time parishioner at St Anastasia’s.
His wit and sarcasm will endure. To all the ‘babes’ at Dunwoody Village - thank you!
