Harold E. Clupper

Harold E. Clupper, 92, of Media, PA, passed away July 4, 2023.

Born April 28, 1931, in Wabash City, IN, he was a son of the late Ralph and Mary (nee Wilson) Clupper.

Harold graduated from Tri-State University in 1952 with a BS degree in Engineering. After marrying the love of his life, Barbara Ann, in 1953, he served in the U.S. Army as a Scientific and Professional personnel and taught at the artillery school at Ft. Bliss, TX.   Upon return from the military, he worked for ITT in Indiana. Harold and his family moved to West Chester, PA in 1971 where he worked for Spitz Space Systems. During that time, he developed the first automated planetarium while at Spitz. In 1986 he started Wabash Scientific Corp, an engineering consulting practice, and as of 2004 had registered 14 patents on behalf of his clients, including the development of the Angio-Seal Vascular Closure Device for Kensey Nash Corp.

Harold was a lifelong learner.  He was without a doubt the most well-read member of our family and delighted in “discussing” a range of topics and opinions.  He especially loved to hear about what his grandchildren were doing and was extremely proud of each and every grandchild.  He was also a lifelong musician, playing the saxophone for the West Chester Community Band in addition to the family Christmas “band”.  He had a great sense of humor, always chuckling at the comical side of everyday life.

He was the beloved husband of the late Barbara Ann (nee Schlemmer) Clupper; loving father of Katherine Clupper (Jim Domenick), Susan Jones (Kevin Jones), and Thomas Clupper (Karen); proud grandpa of Alexander Domenick (Lindsay), Matthew Domenick, Sarah Domenick, Ryan Dayton (Steven Oliver), Adam Steijger (Kelly), Sara Hayton (Rich), Michael Clupper (Meredith), and Mollie Clupper; adoring greatgrandpa of Ava Steijger, Winston Steijger, Annika Hayton, Lane Hayton, Sylvie Clupper, and Hazel Clupper; and dear brother of Joan Eaton. He was also greatly cherished by his nieces on both sides of the family.  He was predeceased by his son, Steven Michael Clupper, and his grandson, Zachary Dayton.

Relatives and friends are invited to his Visitation, 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, Friday July 14, 2023 at The Donohue Funeral Home, 1627 West Chester Pike, West Chester, PA, 19382, followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00 AM. Burial follows with a luncheon at Penn Oaks Country Club.
