Gwynne Garbisch McDevitt, 91 of Newtown Square, PA passed away June 14, 2022 at home surrounded by her caretakers whom she loved dearly.

Born May 28, 1931 in New York, NY, Gwynne was the daughter of the late Colonel Edgar William and Bernice (nee Chrysler) Garbisch. She was the granddaughter of the late Walter P. Chrysler.

Gwynne spent most of her adult life training her dogs at her Double Dee Farm and Kennels in Newtown Square. She was a member of the American Kennel Club and won countless awards at dog trials. She was proud to continue raising and caring for many dogs until her death. She loved riding her horses and cherished seeing them daily on her farm.

Gwynne volunteered at Thorncroft Equestrian Center in Chester County and took great pride in helping individuals of all abilities. She enjoyed the Metropolitan Opera in New York City, the Devon Horse Show, and visiting her home in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware where she was a member of the Rehoboth Art League. She also selflessly donated her time to the Children’s Beach House in Lewes, DE.

In addition to her parents, Gwynne was preceded in death by her brother, Edgar Garbisch, Jr.  She is survived by her son, Frank Rhodes Jr. (Susan Newton), and her beloved grandchildren, Molly Rhodes (Christopher Wannenwetsch), Katherine Rhodes, Nellie Rhodes, and Jack Rhodes. She is also survived by nieces and nephews and her loving friends who were like her extended family.

There will be a celebration of life for Gwynne at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, it was Gwynne’s wish that contributions be made to Gordon Setter Club of America, 3587 East Washington Road, Washington, New Hampshire 03280 and Children’s Beach House, 1800 Bay Avenue, Lewes, DE 19958.
