Gertrude M. Street

Gertrude M. Street (nee Lisi), age 88, of West Chester, PA, passed away on May 6, 2025. Born in Philadelphia, PA, she was the daughter of the late Francis G. and Gertrude M. (nee Grieser) Lisi.

Gertrude was raised in Yeadon, PA. She graduated from Villa Maria Academy and worked at the Philadelphia Naval Yard where she met Samuel, to whom she would be married for the next 66 years.

A smart and gracious woman, Gertrude throughout the course of her life enjoyed basketball, tennis, bridge, piano and golf. She often attended theatre, opera and particularly ballet. She and Samuel enjoyed traveling through the United States and abroad. She had a soft heart for animals. She was a strong willed woman who rarely lost an argument or bridge game, but who was always cherished by her friends and competition.

For all her passions and accomplishments, Gertrude will be best remembered for the relationships she forged throughout her life. High School friends, neighbors, friends from the arts and especially ballet, family, extended family, and very extended (not exactly) family were all part of her life through her last days. She will be forever loved and deeply missed.

Gertrude was the beloved wife of Samuel A. Street, Jr.; loving mother of David Street, MD, Sheree Street (Billy Desert), Denise Street (Lewis Stephenson), and Nancy Page (Thomas); caring grandmother of Cara, Aron, Haley, and Mikaela and great-grandmother of Marshall and Thomas; dear sister of Eleanor Anderson.

Services and interment will be private.
