George J. Harris III passed away on November 30, 2025, in King of Prussia, PA. He was 76 years old. A long-time resident of Wayne, PA, George was born on October 17, 1949, in Mount Union, PA and was preceded in death by his parents, George J. Harris, Jr & Jerian Harris, both of Mount Union.
George’s love of business was fostered within his parents’ corner store, Harriet’s, where he worked through his teen years alongside his mother and father, and his Aunt Charise “Chirpy” Cramer. He starred in athletics while attending Mount Union High School, earning a basketball scholarship and lettering all 4 years at York College, PA, where he met lifelong friends and teammates. He captained the varsity team his junior & senior years & still holds the single-season FT % record.
After college, George worked as a marketing communications manager for a national hardware chain. George then moved to the account service group at the Philadelphia office of Foote Cone & Belding, where he spent 10 years and rose to the level of SVP. With this experience, George left to start his own firm, Harris, Bao & McCullough in 1986. Originally located in Willow Grove, PA, the firm then relocated to its current headquarters in a renovated historic building near the corner of Front & South St. in Philadelphia, PA.
George was an avid sports fan of Penn State, Villanova basketball & all Philadelphia sports teams, but especially his beloved Philadelphia Eagles. He was fortunate enough to attend all their recent Championships alongside his family & friends. This passion for sports carried into his co-founding of HB&M Sports, located in Charlotte, NC, in 2001.
George also loved playing golf and traveling, especially to his favorite resort, The Sanctuary in Kiawah, SC. But no relationships brought him more joy & pride than those with his children, Matthew Harris (Malvern, PA) & Jenny Thurstin (Phoenixville, PA), son-in-law, Branon Thurstin, along with “Pap’s girls”, his granddaughters, Hannah and Zoe Thurstin.
Relatives and friends are invited to George’s viewing Thursday, December 4, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM followed by his funeral service at 12:30 PM at The Donohue Funeral Home, in Wayne, PA.
