George Guggeis

d. February 4, 2022

George Frank Guggeis, age 87 of Downingtown, PA, formerly of Teaneck, NJ, passed away on February 4.

Loving husband of the late Joan Evelyn (nee Seibert), the love of his life.  They knew it was meant to be when they realized they were born on the same day just hours apart.  Caring father of Christina Lavell (John), George (Kristen), David and Michael (Shelly). Son of the late Karl and Anna (nee Brengartner) and brother of the late Virginia Langner.

George will be missed by his grandchildren: Emily, Victoria, Patrick, Catherine, Jake, Katherine, Drew, David, Ben, Merrick, Baily and great grandson, Joseph. He leaves behind many loving nieces and nephews.

He was a U.S. Army Veteran who proudly served his country.  When returning from services he spent his entire career managing restaurants and hotels around the world for Stouffers.  During those years he was a leader in the local chamber of commerce and restaurant associations.

George loved traveling the world with his wife and children.  He loved reading, music, playing cards, doing all kinds of puzzles and spending time with his family.  He was a wonderful cook and would enjoy doing this with his wife at his side.  He was a great collector of antiques.

George and Joan met in the church choir in their youth.  Since moving to Pennsylvania, he joined St. Matthews and especially enjoyed the camaraderie and discussion with the men’s breakfast group.  George was also an avid Bridge player and had many friends who played with him.

Relatives and friends are invited to his Memorial Service Saturday, March 19, 2022 10:30 AM at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 2440 Conestoga Road, Chester Springs, PA 19425.
