George N. Futak, a cherished member of his community and devoted family man, passed away on May 29, 2026, at the age of 71. Born on March 8, 1955, George’s life was marked by a profound dedication to those he loved and a passion for the simple joys that brought him happiness.
George had a deep love for his work at the Vesper Club, where he found not just a job but a second family. Appreciated by his coworkers and known for his warmth and genuine spirit, George fostered friendships that spanned decades. His colleagues were more than just coworkers—they were brothers and sisters with whom he shared countless memorable moments.
An ardent sports fanatic, George's enthusiasm for Philadelphia sports teams was infectious. His love for the game was more than a pastime; it was a vibrant thread that connected him to friends and community alike. Whether cheering on a team or sharing stories of legendary games, his passion was unmistakable and heartfelt.
George remained close with his childhood friends, maintaining bonds that were a testament to his loyalty and kindness. These lifelong relationships highlight the depth of his character and the importance he placed on meaningful connections throughout his life.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Andrea L. (nee Ciolko) Futak, who stood by his side as a partner and companion. Their shared journey was filled with love and mutual respect that enriched their lives together. George also leaves behind his children, Stephen A. Futak and Courtney E. Meredith (Walter), who carry forward the legacy of their father’s strength and warmth. His sisters, Roseann Shields (Charles) and Antoinette Grom, survive him, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews who were blessed to know his gentle and generous spirit.
George was preceded in death by his parents, Stephen A. and Mary (nee Tomasetti) Futak, whose memory he honored throughout his life.
Relatives and friends are invited to George's viewing Thursday June 4, from 9:15 am - 10:15 am, St. Matthew Church, 3000 Cottman Ave., Phila., PA., followed by his Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM. Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery immediately following Mass.
