Genevieve Louise Nelson

November 23, 1940 — April 3, 2024

Society Hill, Phila.

Genevieve Louise Nelson (age 83), born in Philadelphia, the youngest daughter of the late Paul and Jennie Greco, peacefully passed away in her Society Hill home designed by her husband John J. Nelson, Sr., who predeceased her just 9 months prior after 62 years of adoring marriage.

Gen was a proud alumna of the very first graduating class of Saint Maria Goretti (now Saints Neumann Goretti) High School and was a devout Roman Catholic and longtime parishioner of Old St. Mary’s Church.

Gen was a devoted mother and is survived by her sons, John J. Nelson Jr. (Shannon) and Gregory Nelson - adoring grandmother of Courtney, Caroline, and Andrew - and great grandmother of Jack.

Gen worked in bookkeeping for the large commercial design/architecture firm founded by her husband. She was also an avid 76ers basketball fan and cherished her Papillon dog, "Mickey".
