Gayle Jacobs

Gayle Steele Jacobs, age 83, passed away on July 28th, 2021 at Hickory House in Honeybrook, PA.  She was born in Reading, PA the daughter of the late Norman Kelchner and Estelle Kelchner (nee Shipe).

She was the loving mother of Stuart Steele and Scott Steele (Mara); adoring grandmother of Matthew Steele, Devon Steele, and Collin Steele; and dear sister of Tom Biehl (Susan) and Rebecca Hutcherson (Tom).

Gayle grew up in the Reading area where she graduated and played sports through school.  Gayle moved on to Penn State where she attained her Master’s degree in History and married Stuart Steele II.  Gayle loved education and went into teaching, becoming a librarian for Fugett Middle School in the West Chester School district eventually attaining a second Master’s degree in Library Science.

No one ever accused Gayle of not working hard, she often could be found teaching, coaching sports, touring houses for real estate, or working nights at the King of Prussia Mall.

She always found time for her friends and family.  She was active in the Main Line Ski club for many years.  She loved all types of sports, and really enjoyed teaching “her girls” in field hockey and softball.

She eventually left teaching and went on to a second career in real estate.  With her second husband she loved being involved with the Society of American Magicians and golf.  Spending many hours with friends at conventions and on the links.

She managed a number of real estate offices and loved being on the floor with her agents and working with them on the ins and outs of their job. Gayle will be missed by all those that knew her.

Relatives and friends are invited to her Visitation at 1-2 PM Friday, August 6th, 2021 at The Donohue Funeral Home, 1627 West Chester Pike, West Chester, PA 19382, 610-431-9000 followed by her Memorial Service at 2 PM. Interment private.
