Frederick ‘Rick' Mitchell, age 75, of Havertown, PA, passed away on April 7, 2018.
Born in Boston, MA, he was the son of the late Frederick Palmer Mitchell and Mary Irma Mitchell Merrill (nee Clayton).
A graduate of Tufts University, Rick volunteered in the Peace Corps, teaching English and serving those in need in the Philippines.
He was employed by the School District of Philadelphia and taught elementary-aged children for 35 years prior to his retirement.
An avid golfer, he spent many weekends and summer days on the courses of Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
He will be missed but fondly remembered by his family and friends for his wit and sense of humor.
Rick is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years, Carolyn Mitchell; his loving children Christopher Frederick Mitchell (Amanda Sitko) and Lisa Carolyn Mitchell (Sean Mellody); and his dear granddaughter Darby Carol Mitchell.
Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing Friday, April 13, 2018 9:30-11:00 AM The Donohue Funeral Home, 3300 West Chester Pike, Newtown Square, PA (610) 353-6300 and to his Funeral Service at 11:00 AM. Interment Birmingham-Lafayette Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Rick's name to a charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated.
