Francis “Frank” V. McNamara, Jr. , age 87, passed away on November 23, 2025 in Springfield, PA. Born in Philadelphia in 1938 to Stella and Francis McNamara, Frank grew up in Southwest Philadelphia in the Most Blessed Sacrament (MBS) parish. Frank graduated from West Catholic High School in 1956 and remained a lifelong “West Catholic Burr.” A proud 1962 graduate of Villanova University, Frank supported himself during this time by working at his beloved Philadelphia Bulletin as a copyboy. He was married to his loving wife Regina for 61 years until her death in early 2025. Frank and Regina enjoyed raising their family in Washington, PA for over 40 years and later retired to Bethany Beach, DE in 2012.
Two brothers, Michael (Kay Ann) and Gerald (Sue) preceded him in death.
Frank worked as an insurance adjuster for most of his career, employed by various companies in Philadelphia and Pittsburgh, retiring from Zurich Insurance. In their later years, Frank and Regina enjoyed traveling and fondly remembered trips to Singapore, Australia, Ireland, and cruising the Mediterranean. Frank was known for love of model trains, classic comedy movies, and cheering on his Pittsburgh sports teams. Most of all he treasured time with family and friends. Known for his quick wit, he will be greatly missed.
Frank is survived by children Frank McNamara (Cathy), Dennis McNamara (Sue), and Gigi McNamara; grandchildren Alexandra, Nicholas, Megan, and Mia; and several nieces and nephews.
The family honored Frank in a private celebration of life. Memorial contributions can be sent to the National Model Railroad Association (NMRA) at nmra.org.
