Frances Ann Dugent

Frances “Fran” Ann Dugent (née Ritzie), 87, formerly of Downingtown, PA, passed away peacefully on February 12, 2026, surrounded by her loving daughters. Born in 1938, she was the daughter of Charles and Frances (née Schmidt) Ritzie.

Fran was the beloved wife, for 33 years, of the late Forrest Dugent. She was the devoted mother of Carol Reiner (David) and Lisa Michael (Mark), and the cherished grandmother of Kayla Reiner, Joshua Reiner, Sierra Michael, Brooke Michael, Olivia Reiner, and Evan Michael. She was the dear sister of Charles Ritzie, Mary Jo Heichbelbech, and Judy Krahenbuhl, and was preceded in death by her brother Donald Ritzie.

Fran lived a life filled with joy, generosity, and unwavering love for her family. She was a devoted wife and a proud mother who adored her grandchildren beyond measure. Known for her warm spirit, she shared her talents and hobbies freely—crocheting countless blankets for friends and loved ones, teaching anyone willing to learn the Garbage card game, and enjoying many lively rounds of Bingo.

Her sweet tooth—and sweet heart—were well known. Fran was rarely without a stash of Root Beer Barrels, happily offering them to anyone nearby. She delighted in all things Mickey Mouse, loved watching the Game Show Network and 7th Heaven, and was a joyful presence at St. Martha’s coffee social, always arriving early with her favorite music in hand.

Fran had a special gift for caring for children. She worked in the church nursery, and during worship she made sure every child around her had a quarter to place in the collection basket—a small gesture that reflected her big heart.

She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, laughter, and love that will continue to live on in all who were blessed to know her.

Relatives and friends are invited to her Visitation 9:00-11:00 AM, Saturday, February 21, 2026 at Messiah Lutheran Church, 46 W Lancaster Ave, Downingtown, PA followed by her Funeral service at 11:00 AM. Interment Northwood Cemetery, Downingtown, PA.
