Emily M. McLoughlin

Emily M. McLoughlin (nee O’Hara), age 86, of Wayne, PA, formerly of Drexel Hill, PA, passed away on April 2, 2024 surrounded by her family. Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late William J. and Emily O’Hara (nee Kavalkovich). 

Emily embraced life with unparalleled enthusiasm and unwavering dedication. After running the back-office of her husband's company McLoughlin Plumbing and Heating while the boys were young, her entrepreneurial spirit led her to start Emily M. Travel, where she cultivated unforgettable experiences for countless individuals for over 25 years.

Beyond her professional achievements, Emily was deeply involved in the Haverford Rotary, where her energy and compassion touched the lives of many. Her warm smile and generous heart were a source of comfort to those in need, reflecting her boundless capacity for kindness.

Emily absolutely loved the Jersey Shore. Her and Ed hosted almost weekly gatherings for her boys, friends and family at their home in Wildwood, everyone was welcome and it was always a great time!  Once the boys were grown, they purchased a condo in Ocean City to spend more time golfing and relaxing.  When she wasn’t at the shore, you’d find her at Llanerch Country Club where she was a member for years.  If she wasn’t on the course, she’d be at the bar or on the patio enjoying a Manhattan, telling stories and laughing with her family and friends.

Emily absolutely loved classical music and in particular the Philly Pops concerts. She had a positive, bubbly attitude that lit up a room and lived by her motto “Everyday is a gift, live it to the fullest”. She embodied this with her zest for life and eagerness to see as much of this planet as possible with her many travels all over the world. 

Emily was the beloved wife of the late Edward McLoughlin; loving mother of William McLoughlin, Robert McLoughlin (the late Teresa), George McLoughlin, Edward McLoughlin (Sue), and Joe McLoughlin (Sue); adoring grandmother of 11 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; caring sister of Nancy Anderson (the late Clark), Eileen O. Melvin, and Pat Ricci (Alex).

Relatives and friends are invited to her Viewing 9:00-10:30 AM on Monday, April 8, 2024 at St. Dorothy Church, 4910 Township Line Rd., Drexel Hill, PA 19026, followed by her Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM. Interment Arlington Cemetery.
