Ellen T. McCormick

Ellen T. McCormick (nee Lawrence), age 77, of Aldan, PA, passed away on August 30, 2025. Born in New York, she was the beloved daughter of the late Stephen and Eleanor Lawrence (nee Sullivan).

Ellen served as a teacher at St. Philomena's for an admirable twenty years and had a special ability to connect with young minds. With a Bachelor's Degree earned at West Chester University, she not only imparted knowledge to her students but also instilled in them a sense of faith and moral integrity. Ellen’s faith was a cornerstone of her existence; teaching at a Catholic school was not just a career for her—it was a calling that allowed her to impart values and virtues she held dear. Her commitment to her students and her unwavering belief in the power of education echoed through every lesson she taught. In addition to her role in education, she spent seven years as a court officer at the Delaware County Court House, contributing her service to the community with the same gentle strength that characterized her life’s work.

Passionate about the joys of life, Ellen was particularly fond of the Jersey Shore, especially the quaint charm of Ocean City, where she found solace and tranquility. Her creativity flourished in her hobbies—she loved sewing, doing crafts, and her garden was a vibrant testament to her nurturing spirit. Car rides in the picturesque countryside and reliving fond memories in West Chester were simple pleasures that brought her joy and contentment. Above all, Ellen’s heart was most full when surrounded by her family. She loved spending time with her beloved grandchildren who filled her life with warmth and laughter.

Ellen was the loving mother of John S. McCormick and adoring grandmother of Bree, Colin, and the late Kailyn McCormick.

Family and friends are invited to Ellen’s Visitation 9:30-10:30 AM on Saturday, September 13, 2025 at St. Dorothy Church, 4910 Township Line Rd., Drexel Hill, PA 19026, followed by her Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM. Interment Private.
