Elizabeth M. "Betty" Lyon

Elizabeth M. “Betty” Lyon (née Mauser), age 88, of West Chester, PA, passed away on July 7^th, 2023.

Born in Camden, NJ in 1935 she was the daughter of the late George and Lulu (nee Pape) Mauser.

Betty was very active in SS Simon and Jude church. Her and husband Deacon Jim were actively involved in church organizations such as CCD, RCIA and Marriage Encounter. Betty and Jim actively participated in their children’s activities, cheered from the sidelines at their children and grandchildren’s sporting events, and attended all their high school and college graduations. They loved to camp with family and friends, join in neighborhood picnics, tell entertaining stories, and share a good laugh. They enjoyed traveling to Maine every summer to visit Betty's sister, Ruth, and her family. They also enjoyed traveling with friends to Sea Isle City, the Holy Land, Alaska, Ireland, Italy, and many other destinations.

Betty was always helping where she could. She volunteered in many programs, such as making meals to help those in need. She was a woman who was kind-hearted, helpful, understanding, and most of all proud of her family. She touched many lives and will be truly missed by all who knew her.

She was the beloved wife, for 68 years, of the late James E. “Jim” Lyon; loving mother of Jim Lyon Jr. (Dot), Steve (Mary), Patty Mapa (Steve) and Beth Rubino (Ted); devoted grandmother of Andy, Bobby, Becky, Brielle, Brigette, Garrett, Benjamin, Christina, Alex, Connor, Brittany, Nicholas and Elizabeth; proud great-grandmother of Nova and Theo; dear sister to Ruth Kane (the late Bob).

Relatives and friends are invited to her Viewing Friday July 14^th, 2023; 10:30 AM at SS Simon & Jude Church, 8 Cavanaugh Court, West Chester, PA followed by her Funeral Mass 12:00 PM. Interment at St. Agnes Cemetery, West Chester.
