Elizabeth "Beth" Anne Duffy Harper

November 29, 1958 — June 2, 2026

Elizabeth Anne Duffy Harper (“Beth”), age 67, of Morton, PA, passed away on June 2 after a courageous and enduring battle with cancer and other health challenges. Her life was a testament to resilience, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to living fully, no matter the obstacles.

Born on November 29, 1958, Beth was the firstborn daughter and second child of Anne and Tom Duffy. Anne often recalled how “spirited and determined” Beth was as a toddler, qualities that would come to define her life.

Beth attended Ridley High School, Class of 1976, where she enjoyed a lively social life, loved being part of the gymnastics team, and built friendships that lasted throughout her life. She later attended West Chester State College and went on to become a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). Being part of the caregiving community was a great source of pride for Beth and an identity she carried with her throughout her life.

Beth married Bill Harper in 1998, and together they built a unique life that embraced both the ordinary and the special, finding as much joy in grocery store trips as in evenings at the symphony or dinners out. Bill predeceased her after his own long illness.

Family was at the heart of Beth’s life. She devoted much of her time and energy to caring for her parents in their later years, sharing weekly lunches out with Aunts, trips to the Jersey Shore, and occasional visits to Atlantic City. She shared a particularly close and cherished bond with her mother, Anne Duffy, who survives her. Their relationship was rooted in deep friendship, love, and unwavering support.

Despite years of illness, Beth refused to let her challenges define her. She continued to find joy in shopping, posting selfies on Facebook, keeping up with all the drama on General Hospital, buying gifts for her nieces and nephews, and even making a special occasion of her frequent oncology treatments. She embraced each day with courage and determination.

In addition to her beloved mother, Beth is survived by her siblings, Tom Duffy, Susan Duffy, and Maureen Pasternak; her nieces, Lauren, Reveka, and Tristen (her goddaughter); her nephew, Thomas Justin “TJ”; her aunt, Hope Morgan; and many devoted cousins and extended family members. Her cousins, in particular, formed a close and caring “village,” playing a central role in her ongoing care, comfort, and happiness. She was also supported by a wide circle of friends and neighbors, whose kindness and presence added meaning and connection to her daily life.

Beth will be remembered for her strength of spirit, her compassionate heart, and her ability to inspire others through example. She showed those around her that life is not defined by the absence of hardship, but by the courage to persevere and the love we share along the way.

A viewing and funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 6, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help beginning at 10:00 a.m., followed by a Catholic Mass at 11:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the organization that first identified Beth’s breast cancer: Planned Parenthood (plannedparenthood.org) or the PMC, the largest cancer research fundraiser in the world (pmc.org).
