Eleanor Lee Broadbelt, of West Chester, PA, passed away on January 12, 2019. Born in Drexel Hill, PA in 1931, she was the daughter of the late Katherine Ball, married to Edward McHenry.
Eleanor graduated from Upper Darby High School. She was employed with JC Penney for 28 years and retired from the company at Granite Run Mall, Media, PA as an office manager. Eleanor was a member of St. Francis of the Fields Episcopal Church, Malvern, PA since 1965. She served as the treasurer and a member of the executive board for St. Clare’s Women’s Group at St. Francis for several years.
Eleanor was an active member of many organizations including, the Telephone Pioneers of America and the Upper Darby Life Member Club, where she was secretary, member at large, and an executive board member. She was a chairperson for the Adopt-A-Highway program and volunteered for several years at the Bell Atlantic Classic Golf Tournament, which benefited St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children. She was also a volunteer with the Red Cross in the bloodmobile in Center City, Philadelphia and a 5 year member of the West Chester Senior Center where she was in the chorus.
Eleanor was the beloved wife of C. Norman Broadbelt; predeceased by her first husband, Howard “Chick” Lee; loving mother of Linda Lee Jackalous (the late Albert C.), Michael E. Lee (Rita), and Susan J. Irrgang (Gene); adoring grandmother of 5 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; predeceased by her grandchild, Michael Jackalous, and her sister, Ethel Young.
Relatives and friends are invited to her Visitation 10-10:30 AM Friday, January 17, 2020 at St. Francis in the Fields Episcopal Church, 689 Sugartown Road, Malvern, PA 19355, followed by her Funeral Service 10:30 AM. Interment St. Francis in the Fields Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to St. Francis in the Fields Episcopal Church at the address listed above or to the Alzheimer’s Association, 399 Market Street, Suite 102, Philadelphia, PA 19106, would be appreciated.
