Eileen Scanlon

Eileen M. Scanlon (nee Splane), 91 of Riddle Village in Media and a resident of Havertown, PA for 60

years, passed away on June 26,2018

Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Anna (nee Ward) Splane.

Eileen was the beloved wife of the late Robert Charles Scanlon;

loving mother of Denise Klose (Chuck), Deirdra Gillette (Glen), Sheila Anderson (Brian), Stephanie Petit, and Robert C. Scanlon (Carol);

adoring Grandmother of Chip (Lesley), Justin, Kevin (Kaylee), Jennifer,

and Great Grandmother of Preston;

predeceased by her brother and sister.

Eileen, who had an impeccable work ethic, was employed well into her eighties.

She adored Russian Literature (her favorite book was War & Peace), and had an encyclopedic knowledge of English history, especially as it pertained to the monarchy. An avid baker, her apple pie and cinnamon chocolate chip cake were legendary.

When it came to politics, she was as outspoken as she was well informed.

Later in life she enjoyed traveling with her adult daughters;

a trip to Ireland being a highlight.

She also enjoyed vacationing with her Grandsons in Ocean City, NJ where she could be found swimming in the ocean, her blinding white cap visible from the shore.

One had only to imagine the huge smile on her face as she rode wave after wave.
