Eileen M. Dwyer

June 22, 1944 — February 12, 2023

Eileen M. Dwyer, 78, of Berwyn, PA, passed away February 12, 2023.

Born June 22, 1944 in Bala Cynwyd, PA, she was a daughter of the late John Henry and Anne (nee Quaid) Gallagher. Eileen spent her happy childhood with her sister Maryanne and younger brother John on Cornell Road. Their house fondly called the “21 do drop in” club was always a favorite gathering spot for friends and family. She attended St. Matthias grade school and graduated from the Academy of Notre Dame de Namur (1962) where she made lifelong friends and memories. Eileen will be remembered for her larger-than-life personality and her ability to make everyone in her life feel special. Eileen spent many years as a homemaker. She was always present in her children’s lives as a class mom, field trip chaperone, Girl Scout Troop leader, Co-Chair of BASH at Malvern Prep and proudly served on the Board Of Trustees at Notre Dame Academy. You would see her on the sidelines of every game, working the snack bar and spending countless hours carpooling her brood everywhere they needed to go.

Eileen’s professional career spanned almost 30 years in the field of Medical Transcription. She opened Dwyer Professional Services in 1990. After selling her company she spent many successful years as a Corporate Vice President at MedQuist and Nuance Communications. She enjoyed her professional years immensely and formed incredible friendships with many of her colleagues.

Eileen was adored by her late husband, Philip Dwyer Jr., and their love story spanned almost 50 years. The beautiful life they built together brought them 5 children and 12 grandchildren. Upon becoming a Grandmother Eileen became “Leen” and she made it a full time job spoiling those she loved. Leen was an adoptive Grandmother to many and she will be greatly missed for her kindness and gentle loving nature.   You were always greeted with a giant hug.  She taught us all that family is everything.  Her beautiful, blue eyes and big bright smile were always present, even when life was hard.

After Phil’s passing Eileen was fortunate to experience Love again with Michael Conway. Michael was Eileen’s rock during some difficult times.  Michael jumped into Leen’s world with happiness and quickly became a loving part of the family.

Eileen was the beloved wife of the late and amazing Philip F. Dwyer, Jr.; loving mother of Philip F. Dwyer, III. (Kimberly Barone), Katie D. McFillin (Andrew), John Michael Dwyer (Helen), Patty Anne Melcher (Michael); caring mother-in law of Colleen Dwyer (Schawn Beatty); adoring grandmother of Jack, Tanner, Michael, Matthew, Ryan, Molly, Carley, Mackenzie, Shane, Chase, and Jackson; dear sister of Maryanne Ibach (Jim) and John Henry Gallagher, Jr. (Susan); and proud sister-in-law of Joan Walsh (Jack). She is also survived by her fiancé Michael Conway and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, Michael John Dwyer, and her grandson Matthew Dwyer.
