Edward Frederick Sutter, Jr.

Edward Frederick Sutter, Jr., of Annapolis, MD, formerly of West Chester, PA and Newtown Square, PA, passed away on June 19, 2026 at the age of 84.

Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late Edward F. Sr. and Emelie C. (née Coan) Sutter.

A proud graduate of LaSalle College, Edward went on to become the owner and operator of Lafayette Paper and Packaging Supply Company.

He lived a life anchored by his deep faith and love for his family, and delighted in spending time with his family, always making everyone feel welcome and taking a genuine interest in the details of their lives.

Ed spent many summers in Avalon, NJ, where he enjoyed lifeguarding, and was an avid hunter, having experienced the thrill of an African safari hunt, and found joy in both salt water fishing and fly fishing in streams and even in his backyard pond. As an accomplished sailor, he spent many years navigating the Chesapeake Bay. Ed also found great joy in experiencing sporting events in the company of family and friends, and his daily routine frequently featured a quick, on-the-go hot dog!

Edward will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.

Edward was the beloved husband of Joan (née Reed) Sutter and was predeceased by wives, Florence (née Jatres) Sutter and Marie (née Harrold) Sutter. He was the loving father of Judi M. Gatti (TR), Scott Sutter, and the late Edward F. Sutter, III (the late Elizabeth, née Reger); and the dear step-father of Phil Moffitt (Thu), Jerry Moffitt (Katie), and Chris Moffitt (Susan). He was grandfather of Vincent Gatti (Tori), Emelie Gatti (fiancé, Joey O’Toole), John Louis Gatti, the late Matthew Sutter, Ashlee Milnes (Brad), Gabrielle Sutter, Madeline Wolters (Tommy), and Emma Sutter; and step-grandfather of Bethann Malkemes (fiancé, Kyle Anderson), Savannah Moffitt, Leah Moffitt, Connor Moffitt, Issac Moffitt, and Nathan Moffitt.; as well as great-grandfather of Mae Milnes, Jordan Milnes, and Michael Milnes. Edward is also survived by his dear brothers, Charles R. “Tyke” Sutter (Madonna), Dr. Francis P. Sutter (Marilu), and Dr. Frederick T. “Fritz” Sutter (Linda Solarek), and his many nieces, nephews, cousins, and good friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to honor Edward at a Visitation on Friday, July 17, 2026, 9:30 AM to 10:25 AM at St. Anastasia Church, 3301 West Chester Pike, Newtown Square, PA, followed by a Funeral Mass commencing at 10:30 AM. Interment immediately following at SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Springfield, PA.
