Emblem

Edward C. Nolan, age 89, of Havertown, PA, passed away on May 20, 2024.

Born in Collingdale, PA, he was the son of the late William B. and Theodora Frances (née Ratajski) Nolan.

Edward was the beloved husband of the late Elizabeth J. (nee Dowling) Nolan; the loving father of Elizabeth J. Capkin (Mark), Coleen M. Johnsen (Thomas), Edward W. Nolan, (Jolene), Timothy A. Nolan (Theresa), Ann C. Kennedy (James Williams), Mary T. Simpson (Michael) and Bernadette C. Weachter (Matthew). Edward was the proud grandfather of 25 grandchildren and esteemed great-grandfather of 13 great-grandchildren. He is predeceased by his siblings, Kathryn McConlogue, Theresa Smith, and John Nolan.

First and foremost, Ed was a devoted family man. He loved spending time with all of his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren both at home and especially at his beach house. He loved to tell everyone he met about his large, loving, and close-knit family. He boasted about the number of grandchildren and great grandchildren he had, always smiling proudly when he spoke of them.

Ed had strong faith and was an active part of the Sacred Heart Parish family. He loved singing in the church choir and just about anywhere else!

A man of dedication and service, Edward honorably served in the US Army, honoring his commitment to his country. Working for PECO in data processing wasn’t simply a job, but something he enjoyed very much. His two sons followed in his footsteps and both had successful careers at PECO as well.

Edward enjoyed the simple things in life…but not the simple puzzles - he loved a challenge. Dad could be found with a crossword puzzle on his lap at any time of the day, if he wasn’t carving seabirds or fixing something that he just couldn’t throw away yet. He loved riding his bike until he traded it in for walking shoes. One of his favorite walks was along the Ocean City boardwalk.

He enjoyed bird watching, stargazing, and all the beautiful things this world holds. He will be greatly missed by all, but especially his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His legacy lives on through them.

The upcoming services to honor Edward's life will begin with a Viewing on Tuesday evening, May 28, 2024, 6:00 – 8:00 PM at The Donohue Funeral Home, 3300 West Chester Pike, Newtown Square, PA 19073, 610-353-6300.
