Duane Michael Pietschmann, 67, of West Grove, PA died peacefully on Tuesday, October 27, 2026 at Park Lane Post Acute after battling cancer, which he met with remarkable strength, positivity, resilience, and unwavering faith. He spent his final days surrounded by family, friends, and his devoted Susan.
Born March 5th, 1959 in West Chester, PA, Duane grew up in Wilmington, DE where he spent his childhood fishing and exploring Camp Mattahoon, playing backyard football with neighborhood friends, and cliff diving and swimming at the Avondale quarry.
Duane graduated from John Dickinson High School in 1977. Friends and classmates remember him as “Peach,” an enthusiastic and creative contributor to high school reunion planning committees. He was looking forward to planning and celebrating their 50th reunion next year.
For the past 14 years Duane worked as an Outside Project Consultant for Chapman Windows, Doors, and Siding before retiring in 2026. He helped people see the possibilities in their homes and bring those ideas to life. He will be remembered by his coworkers for the real difference his kindness made in their lives.
Duane loved writing and playing music on his many guitars, spending time outdoors in nature, golfing, and hunting. His Christian faith was a driving force in his life and he enjoyed attending weekly services at Calvary Chapel Delaware County, studying his Bible, and daily prayer. He was rarely without a dog, most recently Huck, his loyal bluetick coonhound. His loved ones will cherish the memory of his inimitable sense of humor and contagious laugh.
He is survived by his beloved girlfriend, Susan Foreacre; his daughter Angela Pietschmann and her husband, Geoff Gund, his son Robert Pietschmann, and their mother Jeanette Pietschmann; his father, Bob Pietschmann; his sister Dawn Wilson, and her husband, Dave; his brother Ray Pietschmann and his wife, Patty; and his many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Arrangements by The Donohue Funeral Home.
Duane’s family is deeply grateful for the many caring teams who have helped him along his journey, including at Abramson Cancer Center, Chester County Hospital, Complete Care at Brackenville, Christiana Hospital, Brandywine Senior Living, Park Lane Rehab, Holisticare Hospice, and Serenity Hospice.
