He was born in Bayonne, NJ in 1944 to the late Douglas & Bess (née Pollock) Sopher.
Doug grew up in South Plainfield, NJ and later attended NC State (Pembroke).
He was a proud veteran of the US Navy. For over 40 years he worked for American Can Company throughout the US and retired as an Account Executive. He was a member of Ss. Simon and Jude Church, American Legion Post 0646, as well as Great Oak Yacht Club where he previously served as past Commodore.
Doug loved his family and leaves behind his wife, Jacalyn (née Holinka); daughters, Kim Bornstein (Ryan) and Kelli Turner; sons, Paul (Lara) Sopher and Scott (Kristie) Sopher; loving grandfather of Sydney & Clayton Turner, Hoagie & Allie Sopher and Elijah (Annalisa) Sopher and Noah Sopher; proud great-grandfather of Khloe & Rumi Sopher; and caring brother to Gale Pastula and Dan Sopher (Beth). Also survived by several nieces and nephews; and sister-in-law Judy Odom (Carl).
Doug enjoyed his pastime of boating on the Chesapeake Bay on the "Grand Poobah" or traveling in his motorhome, as well as living life to the fullest. He was an avid Eagles fan and did many a pig roast tailgating at the Vet and elsewhere. He also loved "Oldies" music and taught his kids the words and artists early on. He is leaving so many fun-loving memories with everyone.
Relatives and friends are invited to his Visitation 10:00-11:00 AM Tuesday, November 7, 2023 at The Donohue Funeral Home, 1627 West Chester Pike, West Chester, PA 19382, followed by his Funeral Service 11:00 AM.
