Dorothy “Dotty” Virginia Platt, 75, of Downingtown, PA, passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones on January 13, 2023.
Born November 8, 1947 in Philadelphia, PA, she was the daughter of the late Carl, Sr. and Martha Buttimer Fountain.
Dotty was raised in Collingdale, PA and was a 1965 graduate of Collingdale High School and immediately entered the workforce in banking and finance, eventually becoming a longtime employee of The Institutes in Malvern as the Study Group Coordinator until her retirement.
When she was not antique shopping or searching local neighborhoods for a good sales, she spent many days at her cottage in Cape May exploring the town, enjoying the restaurants and taking in sunsets. Dotty loved to spend time gardening, spoiling her grandchildren over the last 17 years, and spending time with her family and friends. She was an avid Phillies fan and to say she was excited that they reached The World Series last year is an understatement. Dotty was an animal lover; and has had countless dogs, cats and birds throughout the years and most recently Asia and Ozzie. She will be loved and missed forever by her three sons, three daughter in-laws, six grandchildren and many friends.
Dorothy was the beloved mother of Brian M. Platt (Mimi Brackett), Kevin J. Platt (Stephanie), and Shaun M. Platt (Danielle); and adoring Nana of Kylie, John, Cassidy, Olivia, Paxton, Nathan, and Nora. She was predeceased by her brother, Carl Fountain, Jr.
Relatives and friends are invited to her Visitation, 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, Tuesday, January 24, 2023 at The Donohue Funeral Home, 1627 West Chester Pike, West Chester, PA 19382, followed by her Celebration of Life at 11:00 AM. Interment is private.
In honor of Dorothy and her love for animals and as lifelong pet owner, please consider a donation to the Chester County SPCA, 1212 Phoenixville Pike, West Chester, PA 19380.
