Doris Middleton passed away peacefully in her sleep on June 13, 2025, at the age of 77. She was the beloved daughter of the late Silas and Nancy ( Brown) Jackson.
Doris served her country during the Vietnam war. Doris served in the USAF where she reached the rank of Sergeant Regular. Doris also spent 20+ years employed SEPTA. In her role as Operator/Starter, Doris was known lovingly by co-workers and passengers as Ms. Doris or (Ms. D).
Doris was the heart of our family. She leaves behind her devoted sons, Tony J. Middleton and John Edward Blackston , and her cherished grandchildren Savonne, Laela, and Kai Middleton—each of whom she loved fiercely and unconditionally. She is also survived by her siblings, Sarah Jackson, Lee Edward Wallace, John Wallace, Jody Jackson, Catherine Jackson, Gloria Jackson, and Roosevelt Jackson, along with a host of nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends who were blessed to know her. She now reunites with her dear sisters, Priscilla Ann Wallace and Corine Jackson, whom she missed deeply.
Anyone who knew Doris knew love. She lived her life by lifting others—always putting her family and friends first, always showing up with warmth, strength, and a smile. She gave the best hugs, the kind that made you feel like everything would be okay. Her spirit was vibrant and her laughter infectious. She brought joy wherever she went, and her kindness left a lasting impression on every soul she touched.
Doris had a deep love for music and dancing—both were essential parts of who she was. Whether it was a tune that moved her feet or a melody that stirred her heart, music lit her up from the inside out. She was full of life, and her joy was contagious. Her presence made everything brighter, softer, and more hopeful.
We invite family and friends to celebrate Doris’s life and legacy during her visitation on Friday, June 27, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at The Donohue Funeral Home, 8401 West Chester Pike, Upper Darby, PA. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM. Interment will be private.
Doris Middleton was more than a mother, grandmother, sister, and friend—she was our rock, our comfort, our joy. Though we are heartbroken, we are also grateful for every moment we shared. Her love lives on in us, and her memory will forever be a guiding light. ”
