Donald "Don" Joseph Nee, age 71, entered eternal rest on May 8, 2026.
Born August 10, 1954 in Philadelphia, Don was the son of the late William & Virginia Nee (nee Mersinger). Don was preceded in death by his brother Robert E. Nee; survived by his brothers William F. Nee, Jr, (the late Kay) and James F. Nee (Donna), and his sisters Virginia M. Fontana (Leo) and Doris Nee Dougherty. He is preceded in death by his niece, Dawn Marie Nee and survived by his nephews, Bill Nee, Thomas Dougherty, and Robert Nee and his nieces Jacqueline Balla, Donna Marie Tesluk, Christine Tucker, Patricia Maier, and Erin Dougherty Cieszynski. Don is survived by a special friend, Maryann Clark and many wonderful loving cousins and friends.
Don worked at Philadelphia Electric Company for 26 years.
Don started dancing at age 12 doing all the popular dances and continued to study many other forms of dance. Don’s credits include many performances at area schools, malls, universities, and festivals throughout the Delaware Valley. Other highlights include the Bicentennial Celebration at Elfreth’s Alley, The Philadelphia Auto Show, The Opera Company of Philadelphia, Taylor Hospital’s Annual Gala Fundraiser, The Mummers Show of Shows, The Phantom Fountain, The William Penn Award Celebration to the Mayor of Philadelphia and excerpts from The Nutcracker on AM Philadelphia and Captain Noah. Don has performed professionally for corporate functions. One of Don’s most notable achievements was dancing the lead male role in the Valley Forge and Westbury Music Fair’s annual productions of The Nutcracker for 20 years.
Don opened Don’s Dance World where he taught numerous children and adults throughout his years. He continued to teach privately in his studio, at senior centers, at retirement homes and at the LeRoux School of Dance.
Relatives and friends are invited to Don's Visitation on Sunday, June 7, 2026 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at The Donohue Funeral Home, 8401 West Chester Pike, Upper Darby, PA 19082 and Monday, June 8, 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at St. Andrew the Apostle Church, 3500 School Lane, Drexel Hill, PA 19026, followed by his Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM. Following mass, will be the Inurnment at SS Peter and Paul Cemetery, Springfield, PA.
Over the years, Don & Maryann had 10 cats. They were his “children” and he loved them dearly. Anyone wishing to do something in memory of Don is encouraged to support The Spayed Club, 930 MacDade Blvd., Collingdale, PA 19032.
