Donald Metcalf, Sr.
June 25, 1936 — April 5, 2018
Donald John Metcalf Sr., 81, of West Chester, PA passed away on April 5, 2018 with loving family and friends by his side.
Born June 25, 1936 to Elizabeth and Oscar Metcalf, Don was raised in Drexel Hill, PA and attended West Catholic High School where he participated on the football and track teams.
Upon graduating from high school, he followed in his father's footsteps and joined the Steamfitters Local Union 420 where was a dedicated member for many years. An avid beach lover, Don enjoyed spending summers in Ocean City, NJ.
His loss is mourned by those who knew and loved him, especially his children; Joyce A. Krauss (Doug) of Yardley, PA, Theresa M. Moran (Ranney) of Chester Springs, PA, and Donald J. (D.J.) Metcalf Jr. of Glen Mills, PA; his seven grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Tara Krauss, Tyler Krauss, Matthew Krauss, Aiden Krauss, Ranney Moran, Eliza Moran and Maddie Metcalf. He is also survived by his brother, Gerard Metcalf (Eileen) of Jenersville, PA and his sister Elizabeth Pine-Hershey (Isaac) of Quarryville, PA.
Relatives and friends are invited to his Visitation 10:00-10:50 AM Thursday, April 12, 2018 at SS Simon & Jude Church, 8 Cavanaugh Ct., West Chester, PA followed by his Funeral Mass 11:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers, we would truly appreciate if you would consider donations in Don's memory to Goshen Fire Company, 1320 Park Avenue, West Chester, PA 19380.
