With hearts full of sorrow, we announce the sudden passing of our beloved sister, aunt, cousin and friend, Dolores (Dee) Anne Hilden, on June 9, 2026 at the age of 82.
Born on May 30, 1944, Dee embraced life with warmth, curiosity, optimism, and a spirit of adventure. A lifelong learner with a deep commitment to helping others, she devoted herself to education and the nursing profession with remarkable dedication.
After graduating from Archbishop Prendergast High School in 1962, Dee pursued her nursing education at St. Francis School of Nursing in Wilmington, Delaware. While working full-time as a nurse, Dee earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing, and later her Master’s degree from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. As a Nursing Instructor at Thomas Jefferson University of Health Sciences, Dee’s passion for teaching and mentoring inspired her to continue her academic journey, ultimately earning her Doctorate from the University of Pennsylvania. Dee dedicated nearly three decades to shaping future healthcare professionals as Chair of the Nursing Department in the Health Sciences programs at Marycrest College and later St. Ambrose University in Davenport, Iowa. Through her leadership, innovation, and unwavering commitment to excellence she profoundly influenced countless students and colleagues.
In 1984, Dee married the love of her life, Michael F. Agin, with whom she shared 35 devoted years until his passing in 2019. Together, Dee and Mike were deeply engaged in their community and shared a life rooted in service to others.
Her Catholic faith was central to who she was. Dee served faithfully as a Eucharistic Minister, Religious Ed Instructor and was instrumental in helping establish the Parish Nurse Program within her parish. Her compassion for those in need only deepened over the years and she gave generously of her time, wisdom and kindness.
Above all, Dee cherished her family. She encouraged those she loved to pursue their fullest potential, remain curious, and appreciate the broader world around them. Her guidance, encouragement, and unwavering love will be dearly missed.
She is survived by her brothers, Herbert J. Hilden, Michael J. Hilden, OSA, her sister, Helen Mayer and sister –in-law, Kathleen and her ten beloved nieces and nephews: Kathy, Mike, Tim, Chris, Greg, Suzanne, Matt, Liz, Kevin and Carolyn. She was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert and Anne (McAleer) Hilden as and her beloved husband, Mike.
Relatives and friends may call on Saturday, June 20, 2026 at Our Mother of Good Counsel Church, 31 Pennswood Road, Bryn Mawr, PA 19010. Visitation will be from 9:30 AM to 10:20 AM with a Mass of Christian burial at 10:30 AM. Interment will be private.
