Diane D. Robb (nee DiRocco), age 78, of Garrett Hill, PA, formerly of Devon, PA, passed away on July 21, 2025. Born in Bryn Mawr, PA, she was the daughter of the late Renalto and Rita DiRocco (nee Paolantonio).
Diane was the beloved wife of the late Edward J. Robb, Sr.; loving mother of Edward J. Robb, Jr. (Elizabeth) and Melissa Cappelli (Todd); adoring grandmother of Jacob Cappelli, Jamie Cappelli, Matthew Cappelli, and the late Lauren Robb; caring sister of Splendora McCallion (Joseph), Loretta Stearly (Michael), and the late Cynthia Quinn (the late Joseph). Known as Dee Dee or Aunt Di, she is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Born in 1947, Diane was raised in Devon, PA as the oldest of four sisters living with her beloved parents, Rita & Nardy, and great grandparents, Splendora & David, who immigrated from Italy as newlyweds. They shaped Diane’s childhood, which was filled with family, friends, Sunday dinners and many happy memories at their home on Berkley Road. Diane graduated as part of the Class of 1964 from St. Katharine of Siena High School in Wayne, PA and from there worked at Hobson & Owens Furniture Store in Bryn Mawr, PA.
In 1971, Diane married husband, Ed. Together they moved to what came to be known as the “blue house” on Lowrys Lane, where they shared 52 years of marriage together, two children, four grandchildren and all the ups and downs that life brings. They were devoted to each other for life and perhaps Diane never completely healed from losing Ed in 2024.
Most recently, Diane enjoyed working in the Valley Forge Middle School Cafeteria, until she retired in 2020 after 19 years of service. During this time, Diane enjoyed working with all the students as well as making many dear friends.
Diane was definitely a homebody unless she was at 5 o'clock Saturday night mass at St. Katharine’s, where she was a regular in the very last pew. Diane had an unwavering faith and took comfort in the power of prayer, in which she had a long list of those she prayed for. Otherwise, Diane enjoyed working around her home and gardens, reading Danielle Steele novels, working on crosswords and watching the Philadelphia Phillies as a life-long, die hard Phillies fan. Go Phils!
However, Diane most treasured the time she spent with her granddaughter, Lauren and grandsons “boyfriends”, Jake, Jamie & Matt. Many memories were made with Nanny at the 4th of July Garrett Hill Parade, playing card games, watching Price is Right, playing Nanny’s own personal PLINKO game, and taking Nanny on many adventures.
Diane made everyone around her feel loved and cared for. The loss of Diane has left a hole with her children and grandchildren that words cannot express and a pain that will never fully heal. We can only take comfort in believing that she has finally been reunited with her sweet Lauren, our Dad and many family members and friends that she has lost along the way.
Family and friends are invited to Diane’s Visitation 9:30-11:00 AM on Thursday, July 31, 2025 at St. Katharine of Siena Church, 104 S. Aberdeen Ave, Wayne, PA 19087, followed by her Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM. Interment Limerick Garden of Memories, Limerick, PA.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society Bike-A-Thon. Diane has fully supported this event for the past 12 years as her son is an avid rider and is on the volunteer planning committee for the event. Both Diane and her husband Ed were battling cancer. The proceeds of the event benefit the American Cancer Society which is near and dear to our hearts and we all hope someday we get closer to a world free of cancer.
