David A. Procter

David A. Procter, age 83, of Havertown, PA, passed away on December 2, 2024. Born in New York, NY, he was the son of the late Arthur D. and Emma Procter (née Bender).

David, better known as Dave, grew up in Massapequa, NY with his loving parents. He met his beloved wife, Rhea, at Massapequa High. Shortly after graduating he joined the army and upon returning from boot camp he and Rhea were married in 1960. They lived in Germany for 2 years while Dave served his country.

The couple resided in Commack, NY and started a family in 1962. In 1970 Dave had the opportunity to purchase a family food market in Drexel Hill, PA. He relocated the family to Havertown, PA. He enjoyed owning Sinclair’s Food Market for many years. Dave then moved on to a career as an Independent Distributor for many well-known food brands.

Dave was passionate about all things and took great pride in sharing his skills and opinion. He was a wonderful cook and butcher, which he passed along to anyone willing to learn. Dave’s favorite thing was spending time with family and friends. For recreation Dave enjoyed camping with the family at Indian Acres on the Chesapeake. Boating and fishing were his fondest memories and visiting the Jersey shore with his family and grandchildren and eating crabs were considered the “good times” of life. 

David was the beloved husband of Rhea G. Procter (nee Writer); loving father of Lisa Procter Griffin (Todd) and Drew Procter (Marlene); adoring grandfather of David and Connor Griffin. He is predeceased by his son, Dean Procter, and his sister, Marie Dengeles (Chris). Also survived by his nephew, John Paul Writer, and great-nephew, Jacob Groves.

Relatives and friends are invited to David’s Visitation 10:00-11:00 AM on Saturday, December 14, 2024, at The Donohue Funeral Home, 8401 West Chester Pike, Upper Darby, PA 19082, followed by his Funeral Service at 11:00 AM. Interment SS Peter & Paul Cemetery, Springfield, PA.
