David Brian Peck

Born November 4th 1942 in Toronto, Ontario

Died June 22nd 2023 in Doylestown, PA

David lived for 29,450 days. During those days, he lived a life worth admiring. The words that come to mind when remembering him include adventurous, jokester, charming, charismatic, inquisitive, a powerful wit, and loving. When you were a friend of David, you were a friend for life.

He was born in Canada. He was a green card carrying Canadian until the end even after 50 years of living in the US. He was a life long Maple Leafs fan, despite their inability to ever win the Cup.

He grew up thirsting for adventures. David rode the Trans-Canadian railroad, lived abroad, shot guns with his grandfather, enjoyed the natural life at Lake Muskoka, which included swimming, canoeing, sailing, and anything water. Floating on his back for hours, he never sank! If there was water, he would always jump in head first. This didn’t stop as he aged. He swam a one mile open-water swim at age 70.

He lived in London before returning home to Philadelphia to work for INA. There he met the love of his life, Patricia, whom he affectionally called Patrick.

He lived for the outdoors and the warmth of sunlight. He walked everyday with his dogs, which were many, and they always found themselves following every step and every couch he graced.

Hiking was his refugee for thinking and listening to the sounds of nature. He and his friend Ray walked the Appalachian Trial which was a story remembered endlessly.

He loved gardening, mulching, pulling weeds and mowing, despite his lazy kids oversleeping in the basement.

As life moved, so did David and his family. He was never afraid to change an address and seek a new direction evident by starting in Canada to Haiti to Pennsylvania to South Carolina and back to Pennsylvania.

The place near and dear to his heart was Skaneateles Lake. It was his happy place! It was there where all of his life experiences came to fruition. His love of nature, water, landscapes, trees, rocks, and an occasional tree to the head were his tools. He provided this haven for his family, who were the most important things in his life. He was a mentor, guide, coach, driver, and chili-maker which was the only meal he could make.

His influence was born in knowledge of which he spread and shared. The thousands of books gave him an understanding of the world which helped shape his sons, allowing him the ability  to be successful in business and in life. With this knowledge, he would always answer questions on Jeopardy. He was our Jeopardy Champion! We love you.

David was the beloved husband of Patricia Peck (nee Selestak); loving father of Jason Peck (Catherine), Matthew Peck (Carolyn), and Michael Peck (Dayna); and adoring grandfather of David, Zachary, Sophia, Wyatt, and Dillon. He was predeceased by his parents, Charles Carroll and Barbara Peck (nee Flinn) and his sister, Deborah Lachporia. Also survived by his brother-in-law Yaz Lachporia and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, John and Michelle D'Angelo.
