David A. “Dave” Haney, affectionately known as “Ole Miss”, a lifelong resident of Newtown Square, PA, sadly passed away on October 12, 2025.
Born in Drexel Hill, PA, he was the son of the late Delmar and Emily (née Sober) Haney.
Dave dedicated his working life to the United States Postal Service as a clerk at the 30th Street Station Post Office. He was known to his grandkids as “Pop,” a title that reflected the deep affection he held for them. The memories they shared with him will forever be cherished, as he filled their lives with joy and laughter.
Dave’s unique sense of humor and playful demeanor made him a beloved figure to many. He had a remarkable ability to make others laugh, often showcasing a zany wit and a talent for “breaking people’s chops,” leaving a trail of smiles wherever he went.
His love of sports were well-known among his friends and family. Dave was an avid sports fan who proudly supported his favorite teams, Ole Miss, the NY Giants and the Atlanta Braves. His enthusiasm for SEC football was particularly notable as was his impressive knowledge of sports stats.
Dave‘s leisure time was often spent in the company of loved ones, enjoying simple pleasures such his favorite food, pizza. He also found solace and happiness at the beach, frequently spending time at his condo at Myrtle Beach, SC. He also enjoyed driving his 2014 red Chevy Camaro. Known for always sporting his sunglasses and hat, David embraced life with a vibrant spirit.
Dave is survived by his caring lifetime partner and friend, Constance Haney; his cherished children, Marcia Wileczek (Michael) and Kevin Haney; and his dear grandchildren, John Wileczek, Joseph Wileczek, and Tyler Wileczek. He is also survived by his loving sisters, Evelyn Brimble and Irene McIlhenney, and is predeceased by his brother, George Haney.
Relatives and friends are invited to honor Dave at a Visitation on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM at The Donohue Funeral Home, 3300 West Chester Pike, Newtown Square, PA 19073. Interment to be held privately.
