Daniel C. Rush

Daniel C. Rush, age 78, of West Chester, PA, passed away on July 6, 2026.

Born in Philadelphia, PA on July 8, 1947, he was the son of the late Patrick L. and Mary L. (nee Crawford) Rush. Dan was a proud 1964 graduate of St. Thomas More High School and he attended Our Lady of Angels College. His grade school years at St. Bridget’s in East Falls and especially Sr. Paul Regina, remained cherished memories of his childhood. He served honorably in the US Navy.

Dan was a 45 year employee of Amtrak as were many of the Rush family and was known as Danny by family and friends. Many of those years were spent working with his longtime childhood friend William “Beau” Fossett. He always supported his family and enjoyed watching his daughters and grandchildren play sports. Dan was an avid fisherman and treasured time spent fishing with his grandsons and daughters; and loyal friend, Bruce Boyer. He loved traveling to Ireland, especially Northern Ireland, and Japan.

Dan was the beloved husband of Katherine (nee Brodbeck) Rush; loving father of Cathleen Rush O'Shea (Scott), Melissa Rush Gray (James), and Megan Rush and step-father of Jarret Altland; caring grandfather of Jimmy Gray, Séamus Gray, Riley O'Shea, Michael Daniel O'Shea, and Mackenzie O'Shea; dear brother of Patrick Rush, Jr. (the late Joan), Mary Markey (Joseph "Mace"), Thomas Rush, and Suzanne Cirigliano (Joseph) and brother-in-law of Virginia and Barbara; predeceased by his siblings, Joseph Rush (Virginia), Patricia Concordia (the late Aldo), Regina Clements (the late Robert), and James Rush (Barbara).; also survived by his former spouse, Anné O'Connell. He was a proud Irish Roman Catholic and will be lovingly remembered by his large, extended family.

Relatives and friends are invited to his Visitation 10:00-11:30 AM Monday, July 13, 2026 at SS Simon & Jude Church, 8 Cavanaugh Court, West Chester, PA 19382, followed by his Funeral Mass at 11:30 AM.
