Courtney J. Preusse

Courtney Jane Preusse, 51, of Downingtown, PA, passed away February 8, 2026, peacefully, surrounded by family and friends.

Born March 29, 1974 in Washington, DC, she was a daughter of the late Frank Joseph and Roberta Rand (nee Robinson) Fede.

Courtney earned a Bachelor of Arts in Foreign Languages/Spanish from the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. She earned a Masters in Public Policy from George Mason University. She worked at the Inter American Development Bank, The University of Washington and as a Senior Program Administrator at The Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center where she spent over 16 years working in the fight against cancer.

Courtney was a world traveler with extensive travels to Africa, South America and Europe. She loved learning about and immersing herself in new cultures. At the same time she loved her time at home, reading a book, watching Dateline and playing dominoes and backgammon with her husband. She could be seen smiling on her tractor, mowing the lawn, knee deep in dirt in the garden. She loved all animals and made sure her house was filled with dogs, cats and fish. But there was nothing she enjoyed more than spending her time with her daughter, Evelyn, getting their nails done, shopping for clothes. She was actively involved in her Girl Scout activities, as a school mom, and most passionately as a gymnastics mom. She will always be remembered sitting in her chair on the beach, beer in hand, surf cooling her off as she covered her feet in the North Carolina sand.

Courtney fought a 20 year battle with cancer with strength, grit, determination and will that put everyone that ever had the privilege and honor to know her in awe. She never once wavered in her commitment to live her life to the fullest, to smile at every setback, to always expect the best. Her legacy is a blessing to all.

Courtney was the beloved wife of Andrew W. Preusse; loving mother of Evelyn J. Preusse; and dear sister of Franchesca Fede Gomez, Honor Elizabeth Fede, and Susan Fede Schott. She was predeceased by her sister, Marcia Fede Egge, and her brother, David Christopher Fede.

Services will be held at Pohick Church, 9301 Richmond Highway, Lorton, VA, Thursday February, 19th at 1:00 PM. Courtney wanted a colorful celebration of her life, please avoid wearing all black.
