Consiglia Lucy DeLia

Consiglia Lucy DeLia (nee DeBerardinis), age 94, of West Chester, PA passed away peacefully on August 20, 2026. She was the beloved wife of the late Daniel A. DeLia for 69 years before his passing in 2024. Consil was known for her compassion, warm hugs, twinkling blue eyes, and beautiful smile. She was a woman of strong faith and devotion to God.

Born in Ossining, NY on July 18, 1932, Consil was the daughter of the late Caesar and Lucy (nee Fiore) DeBerardinis. As a young girl, she moved several times with her family before finally settling in Garden City, PA in 1939. There she went to St. Robert's Elementary School and graduated 8th grade in 1946. She then attended Notre Dame Catholic Girls’ High School and graduated in June, 1950. Consil loved high school and was very involved in activities. She was a member of the yearbook staff, a student council representative, and was voted May Queen by her senior class. She was also the winner of the Notre Dame High School Senior “Girl of the Month” Award. After graduating, she attended Fitzgerald-Mercy Hospital School of Nursing and was capped in February, 1951 after completing 6 months preclinical training. She then graduated as a registered nurse in May, 1953. She passed her state board exam and began her nursing career in public health.

Consil fell in love shortly after and married Dan on February 5, 1955. She loved being a homemaker and mother to her three children. After living in Secane, PA for 10 years, the family moved to West Chester, PA where she resided with her husband for 58 years. Consil loved her home on Ravens Lane and developed life-long friendships with many of her neighbors. She was the family peacemaker and had a hot line for anyone needing medical assistance or advice. She stayed active on the Notre Dame reunion committee, the neighborhood craft group, and she was an excellent baker, loved to dance, and entertained large family and friend gatherings at her home. She took trips and cruises with friends and relatives and always enjoyed vacations at the Jersey Shore. She continued to work part time periodically at Riddle Memorial Hospital and at a medical center in Westtown, PA.

Consil was the loving mother of the late Roseann Noce (Joseph), Patricia Maguire (John), and Daniel DeLia, Jr. (Denise); adoring nana of Amanda Pfannenstiel (Adam), John Maguire, Jr. (Maren), Joseph Noce (Diana), Christina Bailey (Graham), Matthew Maguire (Katelyn), Daniel DeLia (Angela), Alison DeLia, and Alina Rutherford (Matthew); and great-grandmother of Ivy, Max, Theresa, John, Greyson, Lucia, Cooper, Amelia, and Marcus; sister of Ralph DeBerardinis (Camille), the late Theresa Bell (Raymond), the late Josephine Brandolini (Guido), the late Caesar DeBerardinis (Nancy), and the late Virginia Hubbert (Edward). She is survived by her loving sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, and many dear nieces, nephews, and friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to her Visitation 10:30-11:30 am on Friday, August 28, 2026 at Saints Simon & Jude Church, 8 Cavanaugh Court, West Chester, PA 19382, followed by her Funeral Mass at 11:30 am.
