Concetta M. Rauso

Concetta M. Rauso (née Carusone) age 85, of Broomall, PA, passed away on December 21, 2023.

Born in Pontelatone, in the Province of Caserta, Italy, she was the daughter of the late Carmine Carusone and Filomena Simeone.

Concetta was born and raised on a small farm in Italy, before immigrating to America with her husband and their eldest son, in 1966. She was an extraordinary woman, determined to come to America and found her opportunity to do so, by sewing military uniforms. She dedicated herself to raising her family and didn’t let her limited formal education or language barrier stop her. She valued education and worked tirelessly to ensure her children had more opportunities for education than she had. To many people's amazement she worked side by side out in the field with her husband, Antimo, in their construction business, all while maintaining all the household chores and responsibilities. Together, they continued to carry on most Italian agricultural traditions: making homemade wine, cheese, prosciutto, sausage and capicola, not to mention, homemade bread, cakes, pastries and spirits. They loved to live off the land by always having and maintaining their own garden. She was a tremendous cook, and prided herself on always having food on the table, usually more than was needed for the number of people present. No one ever left her home hungry. She embraced everyone with love throughout her entire life. Even in difficult times, she didn’t complain, had a smile on her face, and was determined to prevail. She was truly a loving caring wife, mother, aunt, daughter, sibling, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. She valued family and was the very definition of working hard to make dreams a reality.

Concetta was the beloved wife of Antimo Rauso; the loving mother of Gennaro Rauso (Maria), Filomena Rauso (Richard Dobry), and Carmine Rauso (Debbie). She was the devoted grandmother of Tony (Allie), Joshua, Nicholas, Joseph, Matteo, and Anthony, and the caring great-grandmother of Bella and Luca. Concetta was predeceased by her 6 siblings.

Relatives and friends are invited to her Viewing, Tuesday evening, December 26, 2023, 6:00 to 8:00 PM and on Wednesday morning, December 27, 2023, 8:15 – 9:15 AM, at The Donohue Funeral Home, 3300 West Chester Pike, Newtown Square, PA 19073, 610-353-6300. Her Funeral Mass will follow at 10:00 AM at St. Pius X Church, 220 Lawrence Road, Broomall, PA 19008. Interment Glenwood Memorial Gardens, Broomall, PA.
