Christine E. Corey of Springfield, PA, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on January 1, 2024 at the age of 82.
Chris was the beloved wife of the late Joseph J. Corey; proud mom of Tina (Andy) Garrity, Michelle (Nick) Kutufaris, Renee (Casey) Scullin and Steven (Cassie) Corey; sister of Jack (Patricia) Neiss; cherished Meme to Corey Ann, Nicky, Danny, Kristen, Christina, Molly, Eddie, Sybil, and Camilla; loved Corey sister-in-law, O’Neill cousin (honorary sister), aunt, and friend to countless others.
Chris was a graduate of West Catholic High School in Philadelphia. She met her devoted husband, Joe, after tripping over his broken leg in 1965. They were blessed with a beautiful life together that spanned 52 years. Joe and Chris raised their family in what was called, at the time, “the new development” in Springfield, PA. Joe and Chris prided themselves with having the go-to gathering house on the block. Chris was known for welcoming family, friends, and friends of friends into her home. It did not matter if it was for a meal, holiday, or to simply get together for some laughs.
After dedicating decades of her life to staying home with her kids, Chris became a dental assistant. She embraced this new chapter in her life and was able to form amazing friendships with her co-workers and patients along the way. Chris enjoyed stenciling and crafting. She loved watching Philly sports, vacationing down the shore in Sea Isle City, and listening to Irish music. Chris cherished her neighbors on Old State Road, her St. Francis of Assisi book club, and shopping anywhere, but especially at Nordstrom and Talbots. After being a dedicated customer for so many years, Chris would love for it to be known that she once modeled at a Talbots Fashion Show!
Just a few years ago, Chris moved to Granite Farms Estates in Media, PA, where she developed a new group of loving and dedicated friends. Even the grandkids worked there leading to the entire staff referring to her as their own Meme.
Chris’s enduring legacy will be the time she spent with her adoring husband, her children, their loving spouses, her grandchildren, her extended family, and cherished friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to her Viewing, Friday, January 5, 2024, 1:30 – 3:30 PM at St. Francis of Assisi, 136 Saxer Ave., Springfield, PA 19064, followed by her Funeral Mass at 3:30 PM. Interment private.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Francis of Assisi Church in Chris’s memory.
She would want you to remember: “Life is short, so buy cute shoes.”
