Charles D. Hollander, peacefully passed on December 16, 2025, at the age of 95. He was born in Vicksburg, Mississippi, on June 22, 1930 to the late Herman and Florence (nee Bock) Hollander. Charles' journey was one marked by integrity, character, and a profound love for his family.
His early years laid the foundation for a life steeped in education and service. He graduated from The University of Mississippi with a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration in 1952. He also attended Law School for a semester at Ole Miss. He enlisted in the United States Air Force during the last year of the Korean War in July of 1952. He was stationed at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, just east of Dayton, Ohio. He became an officer, as a 2nd Lieutenant. While visiting his older Sister, Estelle, married with two (2) children in the Philadelphia Area, he decided to pursue his business career. Chuck took a job at Strawbridge and Clothier, while he continued to serve as a USAF Reserve Officer for 7 more years, when he was honorably discharged as a First Lieutenant.
Chuck worked at Strawbridge & Clothier, where he met the love of his life, Joan, who worked in the Advertising Department. They married in 1959. Chuck continued his career for 45+ years, where he rose to the position of Vice President of Merchandising and served as an Officer of the company.
Beyond his professional achievements, Charles was a devoted family man. He shared his life with his beloved wife, Joan Hollander (nee Wilson). He is survived by his children Kimberly H. Shrader (Allen), Charles David Hollander Jr., and Stephen L. Hollander (Renee). His legacy continues through his eight grandchildren: Jacquelyn S. Gutshall (Dave), Rob Shrader (Lizzy), Tom Shrader (Tara), Katie S. Gallagher (Patrick), Stephen J. Hollander, Nicholas Hollander, McKenna Hollander and Dakota Hollander and eleven (11) great-grandchildren: Troy Shrader, Emma Gutshall, Maddy Shrader, Ryan Gutshall, Jake Shrader, Charlie Gallagher, Peyton Shrader, Andrew Shrader, Caroline Gallagher, Cameron Shrader and Matthew Gallagher. He is also remembered fondly by his nephew, Philip Gay (Marla), and his niece, Peggy Robertson. They were all sources of immense pride and joy in his life.
Charles & Joan created timeless memories with their family on summer vacations in Ocean City, New Jersey. Charles enjoyed playing golf and also was a passionate fisherman. Charles also found joy in challenging friends and family to a spirited game of bocce ball at White Horse Village, where many laughter-filled memories were created.
Charles was preceded by his sister, Estelle Gay, who awaits him in eternity.
A Memorial Service in Charles's honor will be held on Friday, December 26th, Visitation is from: 1:00-2:00 PM and the Memorial Service is from 2:00-3:00 PM at The White Horse Village Auditorium. This is located at 535 Gradyville Road in Newtown Square, PA.
