Charles “Charlie” Getty, 78, of Ridley Park, PA passed away on December 12, 2022, after a courageous battle with many health issues, at home surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Philadelphia, PA in 1944, he was the son of the late John and Mabel (née Merget) Getty.

Charlie was the beloved husband of Jean (née Krautheim) Getty; loving father of Kimberly Maietta (Jeff Bascelli), Lori Getty and Steven Getty; proud PopPop of Kayla, Robbie and Vince; dear brother of Joan Wedebrand; and many in-laws, nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his sisters, Shirley and Mabel.

Charlie enlisted in the U. S.  Marine Corps after attending John Bartram High School in Philadelphia.  He proudly served during the Vietnam War.   After his enlistment, Charlie worked at Westinghouse in Lester, PA until 1986.  He then worked as a welder for the Philadelphia Naval Ship Yard until their closing in 1995. He would later work for the United States Post Office until his retirement in 2011.

Charlie loved trivia, was a true history buff and enjoyed Science Fiction. He will be remembered for his love of classic rock music, socializing and being the star on the dance floor. 

Interment will be held privately January 6, 2023 at Washington Crossing National Cemetery.
