Charles Concannon

December 9, 1959 — May 1, 2021

Charles “Chuck” Concannon, of West Chester, PA passed away suddenly at the age of 61 on Saturday, May 1st, 2021.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 29 years, Susan (nee Sassa) Concannon, son Charlie Concannon, daughter Kelly Golembiewski (Steve), granddaughter Riley Charles Golembiewski, mother Helen Concannon (nee Deane), mother-in-law Viola Sassa (nee DiCroce), twin brother Patrick (Jeannie) Concannon, brothers Mark (Gale) Concannon, Kevin (Pattianne) Concannon, Michael (Barbara) Concannon, Jack (Anne) Concannon, and sister Maureen (Steven) Zignorski. He is also survived by his 39 nieces and nephews.

Chuck is preceded in death by his father, Mark Concannon, sister Cathy Hooven Ciminera, and father-in-law Joseph Sassa.

Chuck was born in Southwest Philadelphia, PA and attended St. Iraneus and St. Laurence grade schools, and Monsignor Bonner High School, where he was an awesome basketball player with his twin brother Pat. Chuck went on to pursue a B.S. degree in Aeronautical Engineering at Embry Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Florida, and later obtained his MBA from St. Joseph’s University. He lived out his passion and brilliance for aeronautics through his work at BWI Airport, Bradley International Airport, and Boeing for 32 years, and taught through example, the value of hard work and perseverance. He served on the board of the Georgia Tech University Research Corporation and the Georgia Tech Applied Research Corporation for 10 years ending his term as the President of the Board.

Chuck was an extremely devoted, supportive and loving husband and father. In his spare time, he could be found listening to music with a cold beer, bike riding or hiking through the trails of Chester County with his wife Sue, traveling to watch his son Charlie play NCAA baseball and helping his daughter, Kelly and son-in-law, who he loved like a son, Steve, prepare their house for the arrival of their first child. He was so excited for the arrival of his first grandchild this spring, even though we already knew he was the best Pop-Pop in the world. He so loved spending time with his brothers and family and enjoying their songs and good Irish humor.

Chuck was a very supportive and beloved uncle to his nieces and nephews, and traveled to sporting events near and far to show his encouragement. He had a contagious sense of humor and he was always ready to capture life’s moments on still and video camera, with “one more shot!” His wedding dance moves that he learned from watching Soul Train when he was young will go down in history, and he prided himself as making the best grilled chicken in Chester County.

Chuck was an immense presence and leader no matter where he went, lived life to the fullest, and was the life of every party. He was extremely handy and could fix almost anything with a little elbow grease, patience and spackle. He had the incredible talent of executing any home improvement vision into picture-perfect reality, and never took any shortcuts.  Chuck was so incredibly loved by all who knew him and will be missed terribly.
