Charles “Chuck” F. Schalch, 90, of West Chester, PA, passed away March 14, 2024. Beloved son of the late Charles and Teresa (nee Ross) Schalch.

Chuck was predeceased by his loving wife, Margaret “Penny” (nee Lineman) Schalch; Children, Charles J Schalch (Burnie), Carol Matznick (Michael), Barbara Sredenschek (Thomas), and Kimberly Joy Schalch (Jason); Grandchildren Kristi Gutteriez (Alberto), Tim Schalch, Andrew Matznick (Susan), Kevin Matznick (Rebekah), Lauren, and Paige Sredenschek; Great-grandchildren, Briggs, Oakley, Marco, Bella, Ellie, and Hampton.

Chuck Schalch graduated from Temple University with a B.S. Degree in Business Administration. He served in the U.S. Army as a helicopter and fixed wing pilot. After his active-duty, he served in the Pennsylvania National Guard as a pilot in the 28th Division and was the commanding officer (Captain) of the 28th Division Aircraft Maintenance Company.

Chuck's business career was with Bell of Pennsylvania. He worked there for thirty-one years and retired from Bell Atlantic as their Executive Director for Public Relations and Public Affairs. During his career he was very active in many community organizations in Philadelphia and Harrisburg.

Chuck served as President of Temple University's Alumni Association. He also served as a Trustee at Temple University and Harcum Junior College. He was President of the Variety Club of the Delaware Valley, the Corporate Alliance of Drug Education, Philadelphia Civic Ballet Company, and the Boys and Girls Club of Harrisburg. He was a board member of the Philadelphia Convention and Visitors Bureau, the Philadelphia Better Business Bureau, Citizens Crime Commission of Philadelphia, The Police Athletic League, the Pennsylvania Association of Broadcasters, We the People 200, Impact Services Corporation, the Philadelphia Public Relations Association, Pop Warner Little Scholars, The Leukemia Society, and the Salvation Army of Harrisburg. He also served on the board of directors of the American Helicopter Museum and Education Center.

Chuck received numerous honors and awards from both Temple University and the Variety Club. In addition, he was recognized for his leadership by many of the organizations listed above and the Philadelphia Council, Boy Scouts of America.

Chuck loved to fly, boating, and playing golf.  He was a drummer since the age of 9 and played with the Paul J Four every weekend for years.  He loved being with friends but most of all he loved his family!  

Relatives and friends are invited to Chuck’s visitation, Tuesday, March 19 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 10 W. Pleasant Grove Road, West Chester, PA followed by his funeral service at 11:00 AM. Interment private.
