Catherine Janet "Jeanette" Vita, age 96, of West Chester, PA, passed away on February 4, 2026.
Born in Wilmington, DE in 1929, she was the daughter of the late James B. Maum and Margaret (nee Givison) DeSimone. Catherine was a 1945 graduate of St. Monica's Business School. She worked at Philadelphia Bindery and Murphy's Department Store. Catherine enjoyed reading, dancing, and celebrating the Christmas holiday. She loved to cook and her house always smelled of homemade gravy and pizzelles. Catherine was devoted to her family, including her husband, Nicholas, with whom she shared 72 years of marriage, and she always aimed to be the 'Best Aunt Ever' for her nieces and nephew.
Catherine was the beloved wife of the late Nicholas R. Vita; loving sister of the late Margaret Joan DelGiorno (Nick); caring aunt of MarySue Hansell (Ray), Louise Raizen (Ted), and James DelGiorno (Kim); adoring great-aunt of Gregory Hansell (Samantha), Dr. Natalie Sheridan (Dr. Edmund Riccio), Tina Corrado (Franco, Esq.), David Raizen (Elisha), and Aaron Raizen and many other family, friends, and neighbors.
Relatives and friends are invited to her Visitation 9:30-10:30 AM Wednesday, February 11, 2026 at The Donohue Funeral Home, 1627 West Chester Pike, West Chester, PA 19382, 610-431-9000, followed by her Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM at Saints Simon & Jude Church, 8 Cavanaugh Court, West Chester, PA 19382. Interment SS Peter & Paul Cemetery.
