Carreen R. Guglielmino (nee Cerulli), known by all as Randy, passed away peacefully on April 18, 2026, from complications related to Alzheimer’s disease. Born June 10, 1942, in Rochester, New York, Randy was the devoted daughter of the late Dr. Louis A Cerulli and Elizabeth (Betty) Cerulli (nee Giglia). She shared an enduring bond with her beloved husband, Russell J. Guglielmino, whom she first met when they were students at John Marshall High School in Rochester. Their relationship was fostered by friends Margaret (Midge) Cerulli and Mary Guglielmino, who encouraged them to correspond as pen pals during Russell’s service in the U.S. Army. They were married for 55 years, until his death in 2019.
Randy earned a degree in psychology at Ithaca College (’67) and also attended SUNY Brockport, where she met her lifelong friend Carol Levy, of Jupiter, Florida. In addition to maintaining a beautiful, inviting home for her family, Randy worked as a social worker, teacher’s assistant, and dog sitter, and she volunteered for a variety of causes close to her heart. Over the years, she and Russell lived in Ithaca and again in Rochester, New York; Fort Lee and Somerset, New Jersey; The Villages, Florida; Lexington and Randy’s beloved Rockport, Massachusetts; and finally, in the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, area, where she could be closer to her daughter and family. Despite many years away from Rochester, she never lost her accent and continued to call soda “pop.” She was a gifted pianist and writer, and she was an avid reader who enjoyed popular and classical music, interior design, museums and art, political debate, and movies, television, and soap operas. She loved animals and had many dogs and birds over the years, including a pair of lovebirds named Frick and Frack. With her charm and wit, Randy naturally earned trust and fostered connection, even among strangers. In her later years, she found comfort and joy in simple activities such as caring for her dog Gemma, short walks collecting nature’s treasures, and, above all, time spent with her grandson.
She is survived by her devoted daughter, Janine E. Guglielmino; her supportive son-in-law, Nelson Oliveira; and her beloved grandson, Nathaniel Oliveira. She is also survived by a large circle of loving family on both the Guglielmino and Cerulli/Giglia side, including her beloved cousin Victoria (Vicki) Lembke. She was predeceased in death by her twin babies.
Relatives and friends are invited to Randy’s visitation on April 27, 2026, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at Donohue Funeral Home located at 8401 W. Chester Pike, Upper Darby, PA 19082. Interment will be held immediately after at West Laurel Hill Cemetery, Bala Cynwyd, PA.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Randy to the Rochester Education Foundation’s Music and Arts for All program, the Cape Ann Community Foundation, or the Adult Congenital Heart Association.
