Carol Daily Schell

February 15, 1924 — March 31, 2022

Carol Daily Schell passed away at the Four Seasons, White Horse Village in Newtown Square PA.  on Thursday March 31.  Carol was 98 years young.

Born in Long Island NY, Carol enjoyed swimming (she was winning backstroke competitions in her fifties), reading a good book, sewing, which included making one of her daughter’s wedding gowns. She also loved to travel, meeting her future husband in Bermuda, (though they lived a few towns apart in LI—but that is another story). Lastly Carol (AKA Marm) loved all animals, especially dogs.  We always seemed to have two at a time and I think she would have loved a house full of them!

Carol was married for 62 years to Ed Schell who predeceased her. Together they had seven children in eight years.  By the time she was 35 she had given birth to 7 children and had buried her youngest, Thomas.

Carol’s favorite place was Groton Long Point CT. She vacationed there with her parents and when she got married, she vacationed there with her family. When her husband retired, she bought a house there.  Ed tore it down and they built “their” home.  Old time GLP’ers would remember seeing Carol dive off the dock on South Beach and do her many laps.  She would hit the beach around 10 AM leave for lunch and return at 3 PM for round two.  She was there seven days a week until they would take the dock down at Labor Day.

Carol was known for her sunny disposition and laid-back nature.  She was never a worrier and enjoyed each day.

Prior to her marriage, she was also a model for the Harry Conover Agency in NY.  She had a blessed life and appreciated it.

Carol was the last of her five siblings to pass on and she used to say she was the “Last Leaf on the Tree.”

Carol leaves behind six children, 16 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Her family is grateful to the entire staff at The Four Seasons for their compassion and care.
